This ride is for families with young children and for the first time rider. The ride goes through flat land in the scenic meadows, creeks and rain forest of our pioneer ranch. Being in a wooded area there is the chance to glimpse a doe with her fawn and rabbits hiding in the wildflowers. This ride is most beneficial for first time riders because it allows a shorter period of time than the Vista ride, has less inclines and builds up abilities. We participate annually in the children's Summer Recreation activities sponsored by both the Gold Beach and Brookings communities. We have excellent guides and suitable horses so a first time rider is comfortable in the saddle.

This ride will wind you through our 5th generation family owned ranch and open meadows were the horses graze year-around. Follow the trail as it winds up a picturesque canyon. You'll ride up and down gentle slopes over looking a tranquil valley. Smell the sweetness of nature's breath as you skirt around reflective pools and pass bouquets of wild flowers. Following the rippling creek through a rainforest of evergreens and ancient maples clothed in moss. You'll ride a gradual incline through an amazing forest of moss covered old growth trees and wild ferns. Your reward after climbing the mountain trails, is to gaze at the beauty of the Pistol River valley, river and ocean far below. This ride is great for those wanting to see the tranquility of nature at it's best.

NOTE: The Ranch rides are the only rides were riding double with a child is permitted. The child must be small enough to sit in the same saddle as the adult. The adult must feel confident that they have the ability to control their horse and care for the child at the same time. The cost for a child to ride double is $10.00 and we also have helmets if you choose to use them. We recommend that children between the ages of  5 - 8 that are riding by themselves participate in the Ranch & Rainforest ride. A guide will use a lead line if it is necessary.
